The 4-valve model has the standard 3-valve section plus an additional valve for A − stopping. All these horns have a standard valve section composed of a 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd valve that lowers the pitch by 2, 1 and 3 semitones respectively. Finke, Kühn and Otto manufacturers are good examples of possibilities offered by single horns in particular. Single B ♭ horns commercially available nowadays have 3, 4 or 5 piston valves. Single horns are, except for beginners, rare and usually played by specialists who appreciate their lightness and agility, and know their limited capabilities. The F/B ♭ double horn is standard and by far the most played instrument.
